borg4win is a BorgBackup implementation for Windows systems. It is a packaging of BorgBackup, Python, OpenSSH, Cygwin and other related tools to provide a complete and ready-to-use solution for secure, deduplicated backup.
BorgBackup is a deduplicating and compressing backup solution with optional authenticated encryption. It stores data in a local or remote repository, ensuring efficient storage by only saving unique chunks across all backups. BorgBackup supports fast, encrypted, and space-efficient incremental backups, while also offering integrity checking to guarantee data consistency. OpenSSH is used by BorgBackup to connect securely to remote repositories over SSH, ensuring backups are transmitted safely and protected against unauthorized access. Cygwin provides a Linux-like environment for Windows, consisting of a compatibility DLL (Cygwin1.dll) and a collection of GNU and Open Source tools, allowing BorgBackup and its dependencies to run smoothly on Windows systems.
