cwRsync Connection Problem!

Hello to all,

Im new to Rsync utility and i want to ask a few things if you can help me please.Im trying to use it for filesync between 2 W2K3 Servers.I followed this article :

https://www.itefix.net/content/how-can-i-use-cwrsync-between-two-windows-machines-within-secure-network

but when im trying to run from winclient side this script :

@ECHO ON
SET CYGWIN=nontsec
"c:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin\rsync" -avr /cygdrive/c/inetpub/srcdir 10.10.10.44::mytestprof

i took the following error message : rsync: failed to connect to 10.10.10.44: Connection refused (111)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [sender=2.6.9].

With telnet 10.10.10.44 22 the winserver(destination) system it listens the tcp port.I need some validation account to declare inside the script to run properly???Also how i can declare a backup directory inside the rsyncd.conf file for backup the original files in destination server before rsync overwrites them in case i need to perform rollback of files.

Any help would be appreciated.Thanx a lot.

Re: cwRsync Connection Problem!

The FAQ mentioned is to set up rsync within  a secure network. No ssh is involved then. Did you start RsyncServer service at the destination. Check also if your firewall blocks rsync traffic at port 873 (default).

Re: cwRsync Connection Problem!

Thanks Tev for your answer.Yes the 873 rsync port is blocked from the routers ACL.

Can you please answer to this part of my question :

"Also how i can define a backup directory inside the rsyncd.conf file for backup the original files in destination server before rsync overwrites them in case i need to perform rollback of files."

because i cannot find something to help me achieve that.

Thnx a lot.

Re: cwRsync Connection Problem!

Rsync options --backup and --backup-dir might be for you.
